What operating system do I need?

The pinpointpal App works on all Apple devices using iOS 5.0 or higher. With Android devices you will need Gingerbread 2.3.5 through to Jellybean 4.2.1, we can't guarantee it but most devices should support the App on version 2.2 and higher.

Is it easy to fit?

If you have a basic knowledge of electrics then it's straight forward. It needs to be connected to a live wire with at least 5-12 volts, such as a car battery via the fusebox. The device comes with its own security screws to hold the tracker securely in place.

What can I fit it to?

 Cars, motorbikes, boats, caravans, motorhomes, trailers, and farm and plant machinery… in fact, anything with a 5- 12 volts power supply.

Are there any hidden extras?

Can you use it abroad?

Pinpointpal can be used in over 100 countries worldwide.  For a full list click here. There are no limits to how many location enquiries you can make and no extra charges if you or the tracker is abroad.

How many devices can I use, and can I see multiple devices on the same map?

You can run as many pinpointpal trackers on your App as you wish. They appear as a list on the App and you choose the one you are interested in, however you can only see one device at a time on the map.

I am watching my device location and it isn’t changing even though I know it is moving. Why?

The device will update its location with the server approximately every 5 minutes, therefore there will be a delay between

the movement and the server update. Should the device be in a location where it is unable to attain GPS lock the previous position is maintained.

How do I let somebody else track my device as well as me?

You can let someone else track your device by getting them to download the app and sharing your login information with them.

When do I get a movement alert?

You will get a movement alert when your device moves outside of its set Geo Fence area which is approximately 1 mile in any direction.

What happens when my inclusive service bundle ends?

We will email you before your subscription ends to let you know. If you wish to continue using the pinpointpal service, the cost is just £25 for each additional year.

I want to sell my device, is this OK and how do I do it?

Yes you can. Passing your device over to someone else is simple. Before selling or passing your device to another party simply delete the device from the App or on the Website. The new owner will then be able to register the device using the QR code on the device or on the instructions that came in the box.

How accurate is it?

Pinpointpal is accurate to 5 metres as it uses GPS like a sat nav.

Can my device be overcharged?

Your device cannot be overcharged, once your device is fully charged the device maintains this level until it is disconnected from the power source when the battery kicks in.

Can I connect it to:

a. Transformer: Yes

b. Battery pack: Yes

c. Solar panel: Yes

d. Anything: 5-12v DC

How will I know when the device has no power left?

As one of our commitments to constantly innovating pinpointpal, Battery Status is being launched very soon. Your device Battery Status will be displayed in your account settings on the pinpointpal section on the website or an icon will be visible next to your device telling you how much battery power you have. At present an email alert is sent should the device be removed from its power source and move onto battery backup.

Will my insurer recognise the use of the device and offer a discount as they do for some tracker products?

Yes, some insurers will recognise that you have a tracker fitted, although more specialised insurers are more likely to offer a discount on their vehicle insurance. Pinpointpal are currently in discussions with several specialised insurers to provide discount on insurance. We will publish the details on www.pinpointpal.com as soon as they are confirmed.

What happens when my vehicle or property goes missing?

If you are unfortunate enough to have your property stolen, use your App to locate your device, the Police will the take action using the devices location as evidence.

How long will the battery last?

Pinpointpal’ s battery life is dependent on many factors. As with any mobile phone if GSM or GPS signal is weak the battery will drain more quickly. You can expect your battery to last for between 24 to 48 hours. Pinpointpal will be launching improvements to battery life very soon.

Does the device work if the vehicle is switched off?

Yes, pinpointpal stores the last location and will power up again as soon as the vehicle has been started. For full details

What do I do if I forget my login password or username?

You can easily change your password in the settings section of the App or in the My pinpointpal section on the website. A new password will be sent to the email address that you registered with.

Is it waterproof?

Pinpointpal is not designed for use underwater but has been treated to make it suitable for use on boats and other indoor and outdoor applications, in both fresh and saltwater conditions.

Can the pinpointpal tracker be jammed?

The Vehiclepal can cope with basic jamming devices due to being able to transmit its signal over multiple frequencies.

However we cannot guarantee that more sophisticated jammers will not be able to disrupt the trackers transmission.

 How long is the tracker guaranteed for?

All our trackers are guaranteed against faulty manufacture for 12 months from purchase.

What do the different LED states mean?

The following list gives most common LED states:

Off: No Power or Not Working (check power connections, then check fuse if the fuse is blown there is probably a

fault in the unit. If the power is connected correctly there is probably a fault in the unit)

Red Flashing Fast: Hardware Fault

Amber: GPS position lock established, waiting for GSM.

Amber Flashing slowly: Lost GPS position lock but GSM connection still available

Green: GPS position and GSM connection successful

Green Flashing slowly: GPS position and GSM connection successful and running on battery power.
